Septic Pumps

Septic pumps are submersible pumps designed to properly pump waste from septic tanks to drain fields. You may also be familiar with the terms sewage pump or sewage ejector pump. These pumps get installed in their own chamber on the outside of the main septic tank. Alternatively, they can be installed in a septic system’s final chamber or in a pump station farther from the tank. They work by detecting wastewater levels with a float switch. Once the level is high enough, the switch activates the pump. An impeller then spins and pushes the wastewater through the drain pipes. Septic pumps are available in several types:

High Head Effluent Pumps

These are intended for aerobic septic systems, which cover spray irrigation systems and sprinkler systems. These systems break down solid waste with the help of oxygen, and the pumps are only designed to handle clear water and treated wastewater.

Sewage Grinder Pumps

City sewer mains use these pumps to move raw sewage, and you will often find them in residences that feature shared sewer mains. These pumps physically grind up sewage as they pump it through. They are stronger than sewage ejector pumps but still must only be used to pump if you have more than 30 feet of head.

Sump and Effluent Pumps

If you need to move liquids with few or zero solids, these pumps are the ones to use. They usually pump sewage from septic tanks to drain or leach fields for further treatment. Note that septic pumps and sump pumps are not interchangeable! Sump pumps are designed to work with treated wastewater or clear water. Septic pumps are designed to handle sewage.

Sewage Ejector Pumps

These pumps take care of sewage with solids up to two inches in diameter. They take the sewage from one location, such as a home or office, and push it to the septic tank.

Septic Supplies

Your septic system can stay environmentally friendly and efficient with the right septic supplies. Whether you are looking for replacement parts or you want to add features you don’t currently have, Wilson Company will provide what you need.

Septic Pump Necessities

When you install your septic pump, several additional items should be installed with it:

Septic Tank Pump Alarm

You will want to know if your pump fails. The way these alarms work is by using a float switch that connects to an alarm panel. When pumps fail, water levels increase inside them because no water can leave. When the switch trips, the alarm flashes. Wilson Company carries outdoor high water alarms with audible alarm sounds and red beacon lights to grab attention. They also feature silence buttons, test buttons, and automatic resets.

Filters

If you want your pumps to last as long as possible, you will need to have filters installed. Excess solids put extra strain on the pump and can drastically shorten its lifespan.

Septic Tank Aerators

Septic air pumps or aerators are one of the more important septic supplies. Aerators push air and oxygen into septic systems to increase the natural bacterial activity. This provides more treatment for effluent nutrients. These are particularly useful in areas that have poor soil conditions and high water tables. While these systems must be regularly maintained, they do an excellent job of handling contamination.

Other Septic Supplies We Carry

Septic systems are complex, and as such, they need many different parts to ensure water is properly routed and treated.

Pump Float Switch

Our switches are made of leak-proof polyurethane resin and stainless steel. They are also corrosion-resistant and impact resistant.

Washing Machine Filter Element and Unit

These filters can be installed to treat washing machine discharge water to avoid lint and other non-biodegradable fibers from entering the water supply. This filtration also keeps field lines free of clogging fibers.

Distributing Valves

If your septic system serves multiple residences or businesses, a distributing valve is a great way to ensure watering zones can be added and subtracted as needed. They have few moving parts and are easy to maintain over their long life.

Service Repair Kits

For ensuring a lifetime of excellent performance, service repair kits are necessary for replacing parts that wear out over time, parts that break, and gaskets that degrade, crack, or tear.
